Best comic book film ever! Love love love Thor!

Are there any comic book films out there that are in the same vein as this? Just wondering, cause I absolutely loved this movie!

iron man is very exciting and fun, just look thor only a bit smart arse (unlike the EPIC Thor).the new batmans are quite slick and serious (unlike Thor whichwas slick and earnest/camp. Thor is sensational!

reply

Well, I can't wait to see Thor in Avengers that's for sure.

Both Iron Man films are close to this one because it's a cool story about an arrogant man brought low but finds his true nature and heart of gold.

Thor is so unique and so cool. It's easy to fall in love with it and the characters.

So much to love I just wish they would get us the sequel sooner than 2013!

Agree, every Marvel Studios movie is like Thor but wonderfully different. All of them since 2008 have been great.

A quick list of better comic book movies:
Superman
Superman 2
Batman(1989)
Batman Begins
The Dark Knight
Iron Man
V for Vendetta
Sin City

I disagree. I enjoy Thor as much as any of the films listed there. It was so much fun and took you to another world which few comic book films do.

As much as there are lots of really terrible comic book films I think Spider-man 2, The Dark Knight, Captain America and Thor (amongst others) show real quality and are as enjoyable as any blockbuster fare.

How much s**t is there on the menu and what *beep* flavour is it?

Enjoying a film more doesn't make it a better film. I enjoy Return of the Jedi more than the Empire Strikes Back, while still acknowledging the latter is the better film. Likewise I "enjoy" Halloween H20, but my personal enjoyment can't transform that into a better film than say Doctor Zhivago, even though the former is one of my favorite films, and the latter not.

Thor isn't even remotely as well executed as most of the comic book movies the previous poster mentioned, no matter how much you "enjoy" it.

I don't understand the love for this movie. I'm a huge fan of the comic and have been collecting since the 70's. But this movie was cheap, campy and cheesy. And a hideously awkward love story between Hemsworth and Portman to boot.

Thor the movie in no way, can compare with masterpieces like The Dark Knight. Now that movie, is the measuring stick for any and all future comic/superhero movies. Thor had some fun moments but was in the end, something of an embarrassment.

Saying it's cheap is, ironically, a pretty cheap shot. You could see the money on screen and whatever you think of the film itself, the work of the visual/special fx guys was as good as any.

I'm sad for you that you personally are embarassed about this film. As a big Marvel fan I've felt no embarassment recommending it to friends who have enjoyed it. My girlfriend, who hated Iron Man and generally lacks interest in comic adaptations loved it. I certainly don't think anyone involved in the making of the film is embarassed by it's generally positive reviews and box office performance.

Personally I don't want every comic book film to be aspiring to be TDK because the tone of that film and that approach simply wouldn't work for everything. 'Serious' people might consider Batman better because of the 'realism' but I don't want po faced Thor, I'll take it as is. (I realise not everything I say here applies to your post tkip19).

I'm in the camp that picks this movie as my Avengers prep film. I'll watch it before I see Avengers mostly because of Loki.
