I just saw this movie 3 minutes ago and immediately went here to post a comment. It was really much fun watching this, the music, camerawork it was really amazing voor an Australian horrorflick.
Next time I see that a movie is from Australia I will not put it back on the shelf! Promise.
SPOILER:
Oh and in the last bit, where the dog turns on his master and bites him in the groin...whahahaaaaaaa I almost couldn't stop laughing.
I agree, this was a great little film. The castration scene involving the father was excruciatingly brutal. The film definitely spoke to the divergence between socio-economic classes but it was subtle. The director touched on it but opted not to delve into it, much as Hooper did with TEXAS. The idea of a couple of bourgeois-types outwitting some backwoods types who've made survivalist brutality a way of life is a bit far-fetched but christ, it made for some damn fine entertainment.
The father's rant about having 'prior convictions' while just outside the door of his farm house, a dog was eating a corpse, was hilarious.
PS I love the mocking tone of the final moments where the portrait of the three guys in happier times is shown.
I didn't really have high expectaions going in, especially with a title like Storm Warning. It really should be called something else. Like Mangrove Massacre.
excellent movie? I hope you never get a job as a film critic. The only people allowed to call this an excellent movie are people graduating from watching cartoons all their life and are just seeing their first "horror" flick. It was a steaming pile of turds...
I liked this movie - I watch a lot of horror movies, and see a lot of crap, and this was not crap IMO. I loved that the female did not cower, or just sit idly by and await her fate but instead kicked some serious @ss. Her husband was pretty much useless and I enjoyed how she managed to take control of her situation, and come out alive!!!
this was a very good movie I thought it was funny a woman that couldn't kill a fish ends up killing 2 brothers, cutting the dick of the father and killing a kangaroo
great low budget horror flick... not jump out of your seat scarey... but definately some cool scenes. don't listen to the people trashing every little thing they didn't like or didn't like the "writing." because it's good if you like horror flicks. everyone with half a brain knows nobody wants to watch this movie for the writing so trashing it is like beating a dead horse. i recommend it.
"I'm much more comfortable criticizing people behind their backs." George Costanza
I wasn't sure what to expect from this once I popped it into the dvd player. But I really liked it. It's not a perfect film but it was very entertaining. :)
I'm glad so many people loved this film as much as I did!!! I guess all movies will have their fair share of haters... what really makes me laugh is the haters that take time to consantly comment on all the threads where people discuss what they enjoy about the film... If they didn't like it you would think that they would just right their negative review and move on... not constantly lurk and troll the board and tell people how dumb they are for liking something just because they didn't. lol...
Anyway, Storm Warning is def a the top of it's sub-genre... Some of the best gore/death scenes i have ever seen! A+ for well built tension and some of the most amazing kills!
This film was quite brutal, nasty, and harrowing. The hard gritty tone and in-you-face unflinching moments of fierce'n'gory violence really gave it an extra nerve-rattling savage impact. I liked it a whole lot.
