I picked up a book with the same title/subject at my local B+N today

So which came first and how similar are the two? For those who've seen both.

Thanks in advance.

I think the voice in my head is a psycho.

Book is newer - unrelated to each other. The book was reviewed in the current issue of Skeptic magazine, and it makes reference to the movie.

I'm about 2 years late on this reply, but if you are still interested, the movie came first. The book was written by a shady movie producer who tried to get in on the movie's profitability. His name is Barrett Brown and he's a fat piece of sh*t who works for an even *beep* movie company National Lampoon, which today's version of National Lampoon is a far cry from the National Lampoon of yesteryear as you may have noticed if you've been unfortunate enough to see anything they've produced in the last decade. They tried to write up a joke contract and steal money from the movie by pretending to invest in it, when they were turned down, the fatass creep decided to write a book about it to make money that way, although he knew nothing about the subject except what he saw in the movie from what I can tell.

It really is sad what NatLamp has become. It was truly iconic and amazing humor in it's day. If it weren't for the Onion taking the reigns it would be even worse.
