ID is not science.

Intelligent Design is not science. It's belief, based on a God of the Gaps reasoning. It takes phenomena which cannot be explained, and says "Goddidit." When lightning, earthquakes and hurricanes were not yet explained by science, humans said that these things were quirks of the gods. Nowadays science has explained so much that there's not much room left to say Goddidit, but God-thumpers can still trot out this notion to say "We don't know why this cell moves this way on a microscope slide--Goddidit!" When God is reduced from throwing earthquakes from his wrath, to moving cells on a microscope slide, there's not much point in "defending" this God anymore.

It's actually a creationist wolf dressed up in skeptical sheep's clothing. The exponents of ID are actually creationists pretending to be otherwise for the purpose of contesting evolution instruction in America's classrooms.
