Still Pushing Mormonism

If you noticed, all of Beck's "heroes" last week are Mormons: Huntsman, Buble, etc. He did not actually mention that, but he promoted these people as heroes. They might be good people, but Beck should have simply had a variety of people. Instead, he had on Mormons.

Beck and other Mormons believe in the White Horse prophecies--that the Mormon church will save the government in the last days. His show is a way to proselytze--and Beck is dishonest for hiding that fact.

False. We do not believe that Mormons will save the government, but nice try.

Seriously, with all the legitimate things to criticize Glenn Beck for, why make stuff up?

reply

He’s not making it up, someone else did and he repeats it. Much like how may Atheists , Pagans, and Anti-Missionary Jews didn’t make up the idea that Christianity began as a Pagan Mystery Religion and the Life of Jesus Christ was exactly the same as Horus or Dionysus, and its all an Allegory for the Sun. They didn’t make it up, they repeat it from a source that did, or from a source that repeats it from a source that did.

You get loads of things like this all the time. EG, Muslims do not worship the same god as Christians and Jews, but a Pagan moon god named Allah, and all the rituals and beliefs in Islam came out of the worship of the moon god.

You don’t even need to look at Religion. Modern Right Wingers like Glenn Beck are currently accusing Liberals of being today’s Monarchists, and have basically said Monarchism is the ultimate ideal in the Mind of a Liberal. Of course its all rubbish, because Monarchism is the opposite end of the spectrum from Left Wing or Liberal Politics, and is actually a Conservative position. No I am not simply reversing this and insulting Conservatives, I am a Monarchist myself.

These things work because people who identify with movements tend to not really look too deeply into the actual Philosophy, much less History and Law and such, of what they join. They simply adopt the general feeling of the crowds they are in, and begin to demonise their rivals and enemies, be they real or perceived.

Mormons really aren’t trusted in the general Evangelical and Pentecostal Christian circles that some frequent, so Glenn Beck being a Mormon automatically means he’s trying to secretly entrap us into this evil Cult. I’ve heard people even say his recurring comment that the Constitution is “Hanging by a Thread” is a reference to a specific Mormon Prophecy. However, I don’t think the phrase originates from said Prophecy ( even though it is in there, I checked) and even if it did, its become so ubiquitous in our daily speech in English that its no more a direct reference to Mormonism than people who Quote the Biblical admonition that the Love of Money is the Root of All Evil, is a direct reference to Christianity. For That matter, nor is “Turn the other cheek”.

These sorts of things just take snippets and blow them way out of proportion. Combine this with a gross ignorance of someone else whom one wishes to project sinister motives to and you get the usual run of how these sorts of discussions go.

And Liberals do the same thing before I’m called on this.

Its Human Nature I suppose, a weakness, but not something that cannot be overcome with learning.
