Katie is the best thing that ever happened for that show

All the naysayers out there saying she was a mistake need a quick smack to the head. She has class, integrity, and charisma on the air, if CBS dumps her, they lose the only thing they have going. Because lets be honest CSI has to end soon, it became boring after the first 10 episodes.

You forgot her talent to bore us to tears with her boring news stories about everyday Americans. I see everyday Americans all the time in my daily life and I don't need to be seeing them on the evening news.

Journalists on the evening news are supposed to find corruption and ground-breaking stories and then report on them.

Class, integrity, and charisma mean jack squat if you're not doing anything to intice the viewers into watching.

As Clara Peller used to say (before she died)...."Where's the Beef?!"

NBC and ABC News are the same way though. The news shows went crazy about Clinton's fidelity and Monica's dress, but the same news shows can't seem to get real interested in reporting the corruption (which about 70% to 80% of the country is tired of) that is going on during this administration.

This is what happens when you let big money corporations dictate what news you'll hear at 6:30 PM.

If she's the greatest thing to ever hit CBS News, then why are her ratings nosediving?

No, she is not. She is the second worst thing to happen to CBS News. And Les Moonves in the worst.

I have just learned that in January 2007, Lara Logan was supposed to air a special report about killings in Iraq that the powers-that-be (probably Katie herself) found "too gruesome", saying that there "was already enough" news on Iraq that day. Logan was horrified that they would not air it and had it posted online for viewers to watch. That is what the "CBS Evening News" has come to.

I have seen about half of the report (my connection pooped out), and it isn't nearly as gruesome as it is made to sound.

Heres a link to it:

BTW, what the **** does "CSI" have to do with the evening news?

Well, a year has past since this post and time has told the story.
CBS News is in such bad shape they are talking about outsourcing to CNN, although they are denying it.

All the reports are that there will be an early exit for Katie.
I have nothing personal against her but she was a terrible choice for a program and format already in decline.

Frankly no matter how hard I tried to listen to her, especially on the radio simulcast, I just could not stand her delivery.

She will not be missed.
