She is a married woman and kisses another man. Why "white" chicks always walking off with strangers?? The whole situation could have been avoided if her hot ass hadn't walked off with a stranger, kissed him and then had to kill him!!!! Dumb broad!!
but . . . then . . . there'd . . . be . . . no . . . movie . . .
If she just told the police about her accidental killing of Carlos in self-defense, there truly would be no more movie.
Seriously, if your story requires a full hour of set-up and hinges on the lead character making stupid decisions in order for the plot to go anywhere, perhaps you're telling the wrong story.

This is exactly what's wrong with this movie. Literally EVERY decision Jessie made was the exact wrong one. Her stupidity was truly unimaginable.

This is hardly a weakness of the movie. People are flawed and do stupid things. We knew from the outset that she had a checkered past; it's not implausible that she would go off with a guy she acknowledged she was attracted to, while her husband (with whom she was having conflicts) was not around.
And she didn't "have" to kill Carlos. She chose to, to cover up her transgression.

What?

No it wouldn't have. Carlos still put the drugs in her bag. Dead or alive, he still did what he did and she would have been in hot water with authorities regardless.
She was tempted; it happens every day in the real world. From the hints about her background, we know that Carlos was the kind of guy she used to gravitate towards in her reckless days.
She made the unfortunate mistake of hooking up with a drug-dealing, rapist, money-mule. Part of the risk of being into bad boys.
I had the same problem with ET. What kind of parents(aliens or not) leave their kid on a strange planet? The whole movie could of been avoided with a little parental responsibility.
