Kiss a girl, get killed !

They kissed, and we know that it wasn't forced by Carlos the first time. But the second time, he was apparently trying to persuad her, thats all. And he was chasing her playfully when she grabbed a log and hit him. He reacted to it only after getting a couple of blows by calling her 'bitch'. He was telling he aint gonna hurt her even while was bleeding. There was never a force involved from his part. There wasn't a tinge of rape involved in this situation. Then why the hell did Jessie kill him mercilessly? I believe, she is SICK !

(Whether the guy is a criminal or not, which was revealed later on, Jessie's act at this point can't be justified.)

She was afraid because he was chasing her and they were alone. And he actually called her, *beep* bitch!"

I think he would have raped her.

reply

Wasn't she afraid when she kissed him for the first time? She took up the risk of travelling with him all alone to a distant place, and she is brave enough to do that; and then all of a sudden she got afraid and started fighting him. Doesn't sound to be a good enough reason to kill someone !

Sure, he playfully chased her, then jokingly told her she was a tease and he wanted to *beep* her anyway, and then he would just have casually raped her, no biggie.

Or, in case you don't speak Sarcasm: You're an idiot.

Yes, proposing a flimsy and unexplained interpretation contrary to the one you're responding to sure makes them an idiot.

Yup, you don't speak sarcasm.

reply

Yeah, you're not supposed to rape people, even if you do it goofily. It's as simple as that.

Plus, aren't you forgetting that he's revealed to have a history of sexual assault?

reply

no is no, he shouldn't have forced himself later.

i mostly will not be able to answer your reply, since marissa mayer hacked my email, no notification

This is wrong interpretation.

The intent was to keep it ambiguous if he truly wanted to rape her or not until the end, when we learn that Carlos was a sex offender which is a confirmation for the audience that he wanted to rape Jessie after all.

Speaking about the actual scene, there are many clues that it could be an attempt of rape. When Jessie turns down Carlos, he aggressively jogs her with his hip (which is symbolic rape), and then he holds down her arms, but she breaks out. He starts to chase her, and although he's mostly playful from this point on, it could be only that he realized she's in panic and he has to be nice to get a strong grip on her again. The clue that he's still aggressive is the fact that he would never stop, no matter how many times he has been hit. But these actual details don't matter much as it is extremely hard to balance them all out while making the movie, the point is the above, the intent, which is pretty clear.

The filmmakers obviously wanted to keep it vague as to how much Carlos really intended to force himself on Jessie or whether she overreacted on his playful behavior.

reply

He was chasing her and trying to force himself on her out in the middle of nowhere. I think she was afraid she was going to get raped. And it really looked like that was what he was trying to do. Chase a woman like that after she has said no again and again and she will hit you. Also, if he was allowed to get up again her life would be in great danger.

Jessie is a born liar.
She lies about everything.
She probable has a past with drugs 2. She probable felt sorry she didnt searched carlos for the money herself.
