Let's tally up the final few minutes SPOILERS

Let me preface this by saying that I actually think that this film and the performances therein were not too bad for a $700,000 indie from a first time writer and director. First time for anything that was listable on IMDB anyway. I'm surprised that they were able to get the cast that they did with that inexperienced of a writer and director, a budget that small, and all on a location all the way across the country from where many of these actors usually live and work.

Oh, not that it really matters, but JJ was cute as a bug in this, and looked so tiny. She must have weighed about 95 pounds, like you could put her in a jacket pocket and carry her around.

Back to the final few minutes. Near as I can figure, he's up for felony auto theft, arson and manslaughter (if he's lucky), perhaps 2nd or even 1st degree murder. Did I miss anything? I'd like to see a sequel where they carry on right where this one left off, but there's little chance of that, since JJ would likely be way too expensive now. Maybe they could instead show the couple living in Bolivia (avoiding extradition) 10 years in the future, about 2015 or 2016, running a little restaurant and auto repair shop.

The son of his former employer might not press charges. Carter left town and a lawyer of his own might turn this into a civil case. The son was told by his father that he was lazy and second rate as a mechanic. He should sell out before he loses the business entirely.

The dead man was poor and unlikable. The authorities might just go through the motions. As I said Carter, et al, left their jurisdiction. Its not as if they can sit them down and brow beat any admissions out of them. The mother and daughter could testify he was alive the last they saw of him.
