there are many cliches

I like crime-thriller movies.I watch this series ,this is not something above standards. It uses all the known cliches.Drunk and divorced police,of course all the main characters cannot have ordinary family life.
This is a part of series,I know,I do not understand why all the time Jesse keep holding coffee cup,why the other people do not have no mimic at all on their face.Even their joking does not have sense. No one smiles. One dog goes another dog comes.
I do not think someone's life could be like this.He is all the time lonely, but somehow women out of blue jump in his bed.
I find myself forcing myself to find this movie reasonable.

As someone who has a former police official in his family (retired) I can honestly say that it's downright spooky how well Selleck captures the reality.

Old post, but here goes. Alcoholism (especially in higher ranks) is not uncommon in many police agencies. The divorce rate is higher as well... working around the clock, dealing with everyone else's problems tends to take a toll on cops and their spouses.

If you'd like a more ordinary family life cop show, check out Blue Bloods on CBS also starring Tom Selleck. As far as the women comment, um, he is Tom Selleck!

Raylan Givens: I told him he's got 24 hours to get out of town or I'm gonna kill him.
