I've seen this film dozens of times and that scene never ceases to infuriate me. They'd already established Missy as someone who was rational and intelligent, so it felt extremely out-of-character. And even if she hadn't been made out to be the smart girl, who in their right mind would do something like that?
The whole movie seemed really rushed and sloppy, so it doesn't surprise me that they tried to get to that specific plot-point (Missy's kidnapping) in the manner that they did.
When I saw her do that, I was shocked! There are killers in the hills, and she has to go piss where no one can SEE her?!?! LOL I would have told the group, hey guys, I gotta piss, surround me and face "out" so I'll be protected... but that makes too much sense! Also, why didn't they take extra clips and magazines for their weapons??? They knew they were going after a bunch of bloodthirsty killers; mutant or not!
shareI can't stand when in movies like this they throw in the scene like this. Makes you hate the character. After all the time they try and get you to like her by watching her kids on the phone, it all goes out the door.
The guy who left the group to free climb was also pissing me off, but at least he told them first and there was a 1% he might could make it. The peeing scene just made me mentally check out if this movie, and it was lazy writing. I hope her mutant baby reminds her of her mistake every time she looks at it later, assuming she got pregnant.
Besides, Amber can accompany her so that's just lazy writing to just drive the plot ahead.
