Is Sarah evil or ...

Okay so I can't place my finger on this- what are your opinions?

Is Sarah being evil about trying to get back with Pete? OR did she legitimately realize she made a honest mistake leaving Pete?
Is she being wicked on PURPOSE to mess us Pete and Rach? or did she really want to be WITH Pete again?

Kinder to assume she realised she'd made a mistake plus was maybe a little bit of panic at being alone ? I don't think there was any nasty main characters in this film - just some stupid decisions and misunderstandings.

I just wanted to start out by saying that this has always been one of my favorite movies. I do not think that Sarah was evil, or a bad person at all. I really felt for her character, and I do not think she deserved the thrashing that Peter gave her at the end of the movie. I also thought it was out of character for the type of person that he was in the movie. Yeah, she was cheating on him for a year, but maybe she just could not get up the courage to break up with him (knowing how much it would hurt him), but she finally did (and you could see that it was not easy for her, and she took the break up hard too). I thought she was a good person (not at all evil, or bad). She just made a mistake (that is all), and she regretted it. She reflected on how good he was to her throughout the years that they were together, and I think that if he would have forgave her, and gotten back together with her, then she would not have left him a 2nd time. I understand his point of view though. After being hurt so badly, he could not trust her again. On top of that, he had already met (and maybe fallen for) a very nice new girl. It it had been a week earlier, I think he may have taken her back. I always felt bad for her character though, because she ended up alone. Finding sincere love is very hard to do.

I don't think she was thinking clearly when she dumped her guy for a free spirited musician. She was the architect of her own mess of a relationship, so no, I don't feel sorry for her.

Be careful not to choke on your aspirations, Director.

I don't either. But I don't think she was evil. Just immature & perhaps a bit spoiled.

I did not find her as evil. When she kept bumping in to him in Hawaii she saw some of the things in him that she did love. For instance when she got the call that her show was cancelled, her current boyfriend wasn't very supported. But Peter let her talk to him about her fears and it made her feel better. Plus when she was talking to Rachel about Peter, Sarah started crying and telling her that he was a really great guy. Although their 5 years together were not all good; there had to be many years that they were really happy together.
