A Supurb Film [Spoilers]

This is a supurb movie - yes, its film-craft is so engaging, but on a higher level is (what I see as) the message of the film. The two robots yearn to be human; that is the quest they are on. When they realize this state is beyond them they self-destruct. Hence, the message the film promotes is the question: "What is it about being 'human' that is so worth-while?" When the dark ending started to develop and one realized the strength of their yearning to be 'human' I felt that the film was challenging each member of the audience to assert of themselves: "I am human; I have the qualities and capacities that these characters so strongly yearn for - AND, what am I doing in my life, in my activities, in my values to profit from being in this state of 'human-ness?" Am I doing enough to realize the potential from the personal and social assets that I currently enjoy? How can I give more fulfillment to my human-ness?
Sure the long walk through the desert at the time seems to be just over-long, but at the time of the ending one can realize that through all this time the characters were driven by their need to attain human-ness - and if they could not reach this state, then 'life' has no meaning. The shear length of time we spend in their company, then, is not wasted but enriches our interaction with them.
To my mind this is a supurb movie which is rich in meaning, and posits the view that each human is challenged to appreciate and make as meaningful as possible the (human) strengths and qualities that they have. [Perhaps, let's start by letting our family members and friends know how much we appreciate their (human) companionship.]
