eu sunt Gica Contra or....

"anyone else who didn't like this movie?". Well i wouldn't actually say i didn't like it. But i would have liked it more if i saw it, lets' say, 12 years ago, when this film should have been done. Now the plot seems a bit obsolete. I mean, let's face it, Romania has changed a lot since 1989, we've already seen a lot of films made in the 90's about those sad days, everybody still speaks about them in interviews, documentaries have been made too, so i am getting kind of sick of it. Not to mention that for 10 years i lived in the comunism fpr real and i perfectly remember how it was. Don't you people think there's a lot more out there to make movies about? And there were films of the 70's and 80's who were picturing the comunist regime a lot more realistic than "Cum mi-am petrecut.." did, even if that wasn't exactly their purpose.

Also, this film, like many other romanian films, is so full of things that you don't just have to speak romanian, but to actually BE romanian to understand them. If i can understand that in a movie from before '89, or from the early 90's, we should take into account that we are 2007 and not only romanians are watching our films, so the meaning of some particular actions or plot lines can just be missunderstood or not understood at all by a large part of the audience.

reply

Yes! even for a romanian speaking the action is difficult to follow.
It jumps a lot and it isn,t quite coherent at all.

Asa ca nu esti deloc Gica Contra dimpotriva, chiar nu esti.

I don't know what to say. The WWII has been over for over half a century and they still make movies about it. And from another perspective, I haven't lived in the communist regime (my first 3 years of life don't really count) and I couldn't understand why it was supposed to be changed if not for all the movies and documentaries and all other *beep*

As for the things that only Romanians could understand, I don't think that they shouldn't be there because, after all, it's our culture and we can't afford at this time to make blockbusters with sex, violence and stupid teenage jokes, but movies that shoes Romania for what it it and specially how it is. (good and bad)

I, personally, have a problem with the plot, because the main character, Eva, has the same problems as the main character from "Ryna" and curiously she is played by the same actress.

reply

Yes but the director is different . she will grow up and she'll play more characters than a teenage rebel.
