When Philips parents were talking about him and his life on the road, one of the things I wondered about was how was he able to live in Texas and California without a job. Maybe he did have a job, but if so his parents never said this, only that he was living out of his car during these times. It could possibly be that he was getting V.A. disability benefits from the military also, because I have a cousin who receives V.A. disability for the same reason: Bipolar.

That was actually another thing I didn't totally understand. They mentioned how many times he attempted suicide and that he thought about ending his life every minute of every day. I wondered how he was able to get into the military (I suspect he hid his mental illness well enough) and how he was able to stay in and get up everyday and function in military service if he was that depressed and suicidal.

I found this comment someone wrote that went to school with him:

I knew a kid in the move The Bridge who jumped off. I grew up in Richmond VA and he was in my middle school. His name was Philip Manikow. He got picked on alot. His nickname was "Monkey Spank"

That's so sad and understandable what could have lead to his suicide. In the documentary, I wish they would of showed a more closeup photo of him, like they did with the others. You never really got to see what he looked like. Maybe that was done on purpose, I dunno.
