Looking for 2008 teammates

Looking to put together trivia team (or study group) for '08 World Series of Pop Culture. I'm kicking myself for missing out on the '07 Austin audition opportunity...so starting early for next year. Won't make that mistake twice!

I'm a total pop culture junky & looking for others. Would love to start studying ASAP with like minded people & those interested in going the distance! I'm mainly looking for those in Austin, Texas & surrounding Texas areas, but would consider out of town/state people as well. I'm 100% serious about this & looking for other hardcore trivia junkies...regardless of locale. (With internet/email, free cell long distance, VoIP, etc...I'd be willing to make it work for the committed & knowledgeable potential teammate!)

Reply if interested. Serious inquires only please.

I am completely beast at this show (I only got 3 wrong in the entire hour of last night's show!), but I live in New York. And, I'm not 18 yet, so I wouldn't be eligible anyways.

Really? There's a stalker book? Great, I gotta read that one.

I've only missed 4 in the entire 3 episodes shown. I'm in Ohio though, so it does no good. I'll be in Chicago soon though.

What part of Ohio are you from? I go to school at BGSU but im graduating and moving back to Dayton and am totally kick-ass at the show. I'm great at anything music-related, but struggle at 70-80s television. I am actually a pop culture minor and BG is pop culture central...it's where it all began. Let me know if your interested...

Hi Matthew,

Just FYI, I PM-ed you on 7/10/07 but hadn't heard back. Reply back to let me know if you are still interested. I'm still as serious as a heart attack. And H-town really isn't that far from Austin. (I have family in H-town as well & visit there a few times yrly, so no biggie.)

Take care,
M.

I'm in the area, though my strength is movies.

"Hey, kid, what'd you do, jump ship?"

"What's with the life preserver?"

i want to put a team together, too. but i'm in arizona. hopefully i can find some savvy people, if not, then i'll try to qualify online.

Hi the-MAR-face,

I'm still looking for teammates also. If you can't find anyone in AZ, then hit me up in Texas. I have 1 potential teammate in Austin I'm emailing with...hopefully it pans out. (fingers crossed) But it has been hard finding my pop culture trivia team soulmates...or at least a bit more difficult than I thought it would be to find people you mesh with, in the same relative locale, & who are strong in areas of trivia you might be weaker in. (I'm finding that last item is key! To have a well rounded team, I think you need a team that is strong in all pop culture topics, not just a few.)

Another good site to post WSoPC teammate interest posts at is MeetUp.com, (http://trivia.meetup.com/). It might help you find people close to your area. (I got some feedback from that site as well as IMDB!)

Good luck!
M.

I'm in Sunnyvale, CA. I'm a master of T.V., movie trivia, and celebrity gossip but my weakness is music. I'm the type of person who grew up watching 5-6 movies a week and probably go the movie theaters 3 times a week. Also, I have an unbelievable memory. I can remember the smallest and big things in lots of movies that nobody else remembers. I'm interested and this has been my dilemma since 2 years ago, finding two worthy teammates. If we have a master in music and a knowledgable person for 70's and early 80's we would be unstoppable. If you can offer this I'm your man and willing to travel from the bay area.

Hi basilmorrar,

I PM-ed you. Contact me if interested. As I've mentioned before, I'm as serious as a heart attack. Location is convenient, but not on my radar for the right teammate.

Let me know,
M.

Anyone around the Indiana area? I live about an hour or so north of Indianapolis and I would really LOVE to get a team together and go on this show. I absolutely love pop culture and loving watching the show and answering the questions! I'm always telling my husband how I need to be on this show! LOL! He can't be on the show because he is not a pop culture junkie like me! I guess if I can't find people I'll just try to qualify online and hopefully make it on that way!

I sent you a PM Marney. I live in Houston. Strongest cats are movies and music.

Aww, I live in Houston. And I can't drive, so that cuts it(too afraid, hah).

I was hoping to form a group as well. I got some friends and family who are good and decent trivia people, so hopefully. I'm a pop culture junkie as well. I missed maybe 10 questions altogether on this season's show. Don't know if that's alot, but it's a good number to me, hah. I don't remember missing alot on last year's show either.

Funny how I opened this topic and wasn't even expecting Texas. Maybe there's a sign? :P

Just an update to my original post...

I'm 99.9% sure that I've found my 2 teammates. We've been emailing & swapping phone numbers already. Looks like a done deal thus far.

But I have received several PM's from people looking for teammates from both this site & MeetUp.com. So if you are in the same boat as I was a month ago, be sure to post at IMDB & http://trivia.meetup.com/. I was able to round up an awesome team in about 3 weeks, with only 1 simple post on each of those 2 websites.

And be sure to post back here in the WSoPC board once you do find a team. I'd be thrilled to hear from the others who are trying out in 2008!

Hope to see you in Auditions...and inevitably on the show!! (We're working hard for it!)

Good luck,
Marissa
