Adama's family is from Tauron??

How did this fact get overlooked in BSG??? Or did I miss something? Yes, Bill was born on Caprica, but both parents are from Tauron!

reply

That never came up on BSG at all. All that we are told is that Adama's father was a lawyer.

reply

Very true, we never got any indication on Battlestar Galactica that the Adama family had Tauron heritage, it's interesting RDM retconned this a little bit, because on BSG we have every indication that the Adamas are Caprican through and through.

reply

I don't think it was overlooked entirely on purpose.
It just never was needed, there really isn't that much on the differences between the colonies in BSG. It's more humans vs cylons and their differences that make the story.

Obvious Caprica needed to build a proper biography for him and his family, which they were doing.

Adama in BSG, probably didn't think of himself as aligned to a colony he was carrier military and that was his 'nation' so to speak. The crew his people.

I would, however, add that in Baltar's political "book," he specially mentions that all the positions of importance, were Capricans. And, in fact, He (Baltar) was from Tauron. This would have been a good opportunity for Adama's family history to be revealed. So, it must be that the Tauron and Adama connection was a Caprica invention.

reply

Baltar was from Aerilon wasn't he?

reply

Baltar grew up on Tauron, and was ashamed of his background. There was one episode where he changed back to his childhood accent, while talking about growing up as the son of farmers.

reply

Baltar grew up on Aerelon not Tauron.

reply

You are mistaking Aerilon for Tauron. It was definitely Aerilon.

reply

Baltar was born and raised on a dairy farm outside of the town of Cuffle's Breath Wash on Aerilon.

OK So I was just imagining the whole "Geminons were overtly religious"(Elosha, Roslin's guard in the Brig, multiple others) and "Saggitarons were ignorantly backwards hicks that did not believe in Doctors or Modern medicine"(The Woman King)
Not to mention Baltar's diatribe and rant against the monopoly of positions of power and affluence by Capricans and his shunning of his own Dirt Farmer beginnings as an Aerilon.

But sure... No Differences at all shown in the show.

Adama's Tauron ancestor heritage did not come up at all in BSG, only in Caprica, besides the fact that Bill was born on Caprica.
