Meaning?

Possibly the slowest movie I have seen - like the start of Solaris, but all the way through. Also one of the most beautifully filmed.

But what the hell was going on??

(I'm just off to read about Quixote now. Perhaps that will tell me.)

Well its a catalán movie. The people there are very simple (and I don't mean it with a negative conotation).
A very good friend of mine knows Albert Serra and i've once met with an actor from the movie, or an extra. He didn't understand much of it either. But if you ever visit a small village on the Costa Brava it all starts to make sense. At least for me it did... kinda.
Serra, I think, is to be understood as a non rational film maker, seen any other movies by him?! 'Crespia', for instance. Peasants dancing around a tractor and so on...
I think its primarily about the atmosphere. Like Kubrick.
Now that I'm writing it I feel like watching it again.

It's about whatever the original novel and Waiting for Godot were about. It is its approach that is completely different (both from Cervantes' book and from modern art cinema) and this makes it so refreshing.

And here's a quote from Serra:

I’m not interested in forcing a meaning onto a filmic story. In fact I’d even rather the audience know more than I do about the meaning of my films.

I thought the film was pretty funny.

As far as I'm concerned, you can drop off the Earth.
