I don't understand why Jason Statham steals the bag at the end?

Why does he shoot him, steal the bag, then run away? What's the purpose there?

He had gotten cleaned out by his brother dying and needed to get money to pay back to the loan shark he made a deal with earlier in the film. He thought the bag was full of money and wanted to steal it.

IMO, he shot him for shooting his brother. When Jason is the real culprit for his brother's death.

Yeah, one of the reasons people hate this movie, I guess, is because they don't get it at all.

Yes he thought the bag was the first prize money....... now he's on the lamb.
