Sorry, but this movie was bad!! bad bad

I was very disappointed. I always thought "Hey thats still Don Cheadle up there".
Too much lame drama and weird sexual tension between the 2 male leads. Anyone else feel this way?
Acting was way too dramatic!

This is like a TV movie with a lot of F-bombs and fistfights, and you are right that there's a sexual subtext between the male leads but the film doesn't dare explore it. Don Cheadle is an excellent actor, but he's way overdoing it here.

What really annoys me about this film is the stereotypical station owner played by Martin Sheen: "This time you've really gone too far!" Ah yes, the clueless voice of authority. What would a film like this be without a cookie-cutter portrayal of "the man"?

Excellent old-school soundtrack, though. If only the characters would stop talking over it!

I can see the TV movie aspect....kind of more like a 70s TV aspect really. Nonetheless, there have been plenty of really good made-for-TV flicks. On that level, I enjoyed most of the movie. The period stuff was largely excellent (fashion and language), and I thought Cheadle did a fantastic job inhabiting this character. The shortcomings I think were in what you mentioned, and certainly some of the story contrivances. Sheen was stereotypical, but he played the stereotype about as well as anyone.

The soundtrack is really, really superb with very few missteps (as much as I love "Time Has Come Today", hasn't it been given its due by now?). Anything with the original "Tainted Love" can not be bad!

What sexual tension? I did not notice any? What? Whenever two men share emotional intimacy over a span of time despite issues personal and political they are, or desire to be homosexual?

I was looking forward to this because I really like Don Cheadle. The movie worked until Green became a stand up and started TV and everything. I wish it would have focused more on how Petey was on the radio. After reading how much fiction was put into this movie I wasn't surprised. It didn't seem real. The first third was pretty good, the rest was kinda boring.

I'm sorry but I have no idea what you are talking about. This was a good movie. Sexual Tension? Why must every movie with 2 guys talking together be sexual tension.

I agree with you blazaxel2,poppunk is very ignorant indeed!
This was a very good film, one of the best films with a large
Black cast. It's too bad that there aren't more films like this
one.

the sexual tension? That's an interesting one.

I felt everything after MLK was boring... One big oxymoron -- rushed and slow paced...

Whoever posted initially about sexual tension between the two actors is probably projecting teir own fantasies into this film.

Whoever posted initially about the sexual tension between the two male leads in Talk To Me was probably projecting his own fantasies into something that's innocent.
