Really underrated

$4 million gross? That's pathetic.

I just saw this on HBO and it was really entertaining and well-acted. The marketers really let down the cast -- and Petey Greene's legacy -- on this one.

A shame.

You're preaching the the choir, disciple. Saw it on HBO, too, and I was glued to the screen. I have no attention span for movies anymore but this one was interesting from beginning to end. I'm too young to remember the real Petey Green's time, so this film was my introduction to him. Don Cheadle couldn't have done a better job portraying him. He nailed Petey's attitude and soul. I watched some youtube clips of the real Petey Green after watching Talk to Me, then watched Talk to Me again, and I'm just amazed at Don Cheadle. So, yes, Talk to Me is underrated, along with Cheadle. Don Cheadle is one of the best actors of our time. Period.

Stop blaming the marketers. The ticket-buying audience (who keep claiming they are always in the dark when it comes to new films) let the cast and the director down. Period.

I saw it twice at the movie theater because I LOOK for new movies. And when I discover one that interests me I seek them out. Once that occurs I don't download them illegally from the net and I don't buy black market copies on the street. I support the films finacially with my cash. I also don't have to wait to discover the movies on DVD and cable. If you are looking for quality films then go to the movie sites. Even mainstream sites such as IMDB, AICN, Rotten Tomatoes, CHUD, Cinematical, etc will help keep you up to speed even with low budget films. Do some quicj research on Google or Yahoo. Keep up with the news regarding your favorite stars and directors. Go to the sites dedicated to movie trailers. Check out YouTube for trailers and behind the scenes stuff. Create links to movie news sites. You don't have to do all of this online checking every day. But if you can find 30 minutes of your time every week or every other week to devote to doing some web surfing you can pretty much learn about all the films before they are even released. No one should have to rely strictly on marketers. Especially since small budget films like this won't get a heavy promo push like the major Hollywood films will.

This is probably the most underrated movie of the past 5 years. Incredible movie and one of the best performances I've ever seen by Don Cheadle.

I had never even heard of this movie. I got very lucky because a friend recommended it to me. I adored it and the three leads were fantastic.

I don't think you can blame the marketers. It was released BEFORE its time. Don and Cedric are well known now and household names. Had it been released in 2013 it would be hit movie just based on the acting quality.
