Star Trek has been its own unique thing for decades, since the 1960s, yet Abrams comes along and, not even liking Star Trek as it has been in any way, shape or form, proceeds to turn it into a copy of Star Wars, because moolah.
I miss the days of REAL Star Trek, all the stuff that came between 1966 and 2005.

I had over the pandemic re watched all the Star Wars and Star Trek movies in release order.
As soon as I got to this movie that is the first thing I thought this is Star Wars not Star Trek.
What didn't help is I listened to the commentary and for this film yep J J mentions Star wars many times and has sarky comments about Trek fans this should please them etc he doesn't care one bit about the loyal fans or original source material.
The way he kept talking over the other people as well it was all about him.
