Reasons why Trek 2009 was Stupid and Poor Pt. 4

10. Spock’s “brilliant” logic.

After the aftermath of Vulcan, Spock “deduces” that Nero came from the future and has altered the timeline due to his presence. Wow! He then goes on to reason that the Enterprise must rendezvous with the fleet. Where is the fleet? In the Laurentian system. Why? Who knows? But the fact still remains that Nero is out there and is hell bent on revenge. They just witnessed what kind of threat he poses and instead of alerting Starfleet, he rationalizes they should rendezvous with the fleet not at Earth, but in the Laurentian system??? What logical reason is there to rendezvous in a system that has no tactical relevance? Yeah, the fleet’s there, so inform Starfleet! That’s what he was TOLD to do by Pike before he left! [eyes2]

11. Spock jettisons Kirk.

That’s right. Spock jettisons Kirk off the Enterprise because of a contagion risk? No. A possible contagion risk? No. Because IT HAS TO HAPPEN? Bingo! The two have a spat to which is the correct course of action. Their conversation grows heated which results in Kirk being rendered unconscious with a neck pinch. Toss him in the brig for insubordination? No. “Get him off my ship.” Spock said. Really? Spock? The one that follows Starfleet regs to a T? That Spock?

"Yeah, but his judgment was compromised from seeing his mother die and his world destroyed."

I see. So Spock is pissed off within which is affecting his abilities to act rationally, yet he still blindly follows regs to rendezvous at the Laurentian system. Bones witnessed the entire scene, yet he never interjected. As CMO, he would’ve had the authority to relieve Spock of duties right then and there, yet it wasn’t done. Why? You guessed it, IT HAS TO HAPPEN! Poor & Stupid. To be continued.

12. The supernova threatened the entire GALAXY.

Per Memory Alpha: an impending supernova of a star threatened to destroy the home worlds of the Romulan Star Empire and potentially, the rest of the galaxy as well. Seriously???

We live in the Milky Way galaxy. According to Wikipedia, we have about 2-400 BILLION stars with a diameter of 100-120 kilo light years. One star!!! One frigging star exploding is going to wipe out the ENTIRE galaxy??? [eyes2]

"They didn’t say it was going to, but just had the potential to wipe out the galaxy."

The potential? Meaning it could’ve. So what does that mean? It means that if it COULD, then EVERYBODY within the galaxy is POTENTIALLY at risk, right? Meaning, the Klingons and the Vulcans and Earth would’ve been at risk as well. Thus, shouldn’t they have gotten involved and aided Spock in preventing this POTENTIALLY life erasing event? No? [eyes2]

"Haven’t you seen Superman? It’s the same thing. Like global warming, man!"

Being that there are different races involved and the one person that is telling everybody is Spock, an ambassador of the Federation, why wouldn’t they listen??? Clearly, he’s convinced some of the Romulans that this star is in imminent danger of going supernova. Surely their own scientist could corroborate that the star is unstable at the very least, thus prompting an evacuation for safety issues. And unlike global warming, which is a slow cumulative effect that can affect life over time, as opposed to a supernova, which is a more like a bomb exploding suddenly, so I fail to see the correlation in the example. I don't disagree but you know you've put more effort into this then they did in writing the script? And that is no exaggeration - they probably tossed that thing off in an afternoon.

Did I? How disappointing that is and now the idiot no talent Alex Kurtzman is the showrunner for STD. It's only clear that it doesn't take talent to be and stay in Hollywood.

I have to agree about Spock turfing Kirk off the ship onto a nearby planet... LUDICROUS

They have a brig ffs
