questionne

I want to get this and show it
to my French class... but I need
to know if it's too sexual or anything
of that nature to show in school.

Just saw it last night and loved it.
From your point of view, and having had three years of French, I would LOVE to have had this screened in class. I had to read "Les Précieuses Ridicules" (sp?) and remember Molière distinctly.

For your cautionary purposes, college, no problem.
High school, they've seen much, much more on TV.
Pre-high, probably okay there too.

Other than some passionate embraces, the only scene on my DVD even closely approaching anything prurient was (no spoiler here) when Molière attempts to climb down a villa's wall and sees his "employer's" wife undressing. It's only for a moment and then you only see from the backside, not even butt-crack as I remember.

From a relationship standpoint, there is an adulterous liaison in the movie, but that works out honorably by the end.

I recommend it for your purposes.
And nearly highest recommendation for anyone interested in costume dramas and particularly French cultural history.

Thank you very much =]

Yeah, we're all 16-18 years old in there.
I think we can handle a woman's bare back lol.
But I guess it's really up to our teacher.
Can I get this anywhere besides the internet?

Rented mine through Netflix. If you don't want to pay $$, I suggest doing the free trial, and then canceling it after you watch the movie.

Your question isn't generally irrelevant after 3.5 years, and I would have to say there are a few sexual bits:

•Molière looking through the window and seeing Mrs. Jourdain undressing, though it's very tame and you only see the underdress.

•Molière, M. and Mrs. Jourdain catching the daughter making out with her "singing instructor". Although the action is harmless enough, there is a play on words between kissing and *beep* Using the word "baiser", there is a discussion about kissing and/or giving a kiss to the daughter, and it's implied (very humorously) that the man was apparently effing the daughter, and even M. Jourdain snaps at his wife to stop playing with words. My French is very poor, but I was able to appreciate this more vulgar joke, and a French teacher would know how to handle the situation.

•Molière and Mrs. Jourdain have sex and while not graphic, it's also not left to the imagination. It's also implied in earlier scenes that they've had sex before as well, but the scene will cut before anything happens.
