I really think that Anthony Delon would have been more suited to the part. His on-screen presence is magnetic and he completely Holds the veiwer. this kind of charisma is rarely found and would have complemented the exuberance of the film splendidly.

I thought Duris was wonderful. I don't think Depp is that great an actor. He's become too stylised, Johnny Depp plays Johnny Depp playing odd characters, and if you notice carefully, or even not so carefully, he uses many of the same gestures, mannerisms and quirks across characters. I liked him in his younger years, when he was not quite so 'big' as an actor...his acting seemed more raw in that way that is believable.

I used to be a big fan of Depp's but have grown tired of the parody he seems to play now. I can't bear the continual collaborations with Tim Burton, although Sweeney Todd was very good and show that Depp can deliver if he wants.
