Other suggestions for the leading man!

I really think that Anthony Delon would have been more suited to the part. His on-screen presence is magnetic and he completely Holds the veiwer. this kind of charisma is rarely found and would have complemented the exuberance of the film splendidly.

Sorry but Anthony Delon is not a good actor at all, he is ok,, good looking but not capable to held this kind of role...
Romain Duris was perfect and I dont see who else (among French actors) could have been better than him.

reply

I agree . Anthony Delon is good looking but Duris is a fantastic actor , much better suited for this role.

I think Romain Duris did a fantastic job. He really impressed me.

Hard to answer that question when Romain has done such a fantastic job - i certainly don't think anyone else could have done it like he did!

Romain Duris was perfect! No need to make any changes.

Johnny Depp :D:D:D

Yes, if they ever did an American version, Johnny Depp should play him. Not that an American version is necessary, since this one was great. But if they ever made one...

He was terrible in Frenchman's Creek although he may have gotten better. Looking forward to viewing Moliere soon.

Fabrice Luchini. Unless you are an idiot.

reply

No need to be so rude. I was commenting on the suggestion that Alain Delon's son should have been cast. He was in Frenchman's Creek which I saw and he sucked.

Saw part of Moliere and your precious Luchini sucked also. Dommage!

I thought Duris was wonderful. I don't think Depp is that great an actor. He's become too stylised, Johnny Depp plays Johnny Depp playing odd characters, and if you notice carefully, or even not so carefully, he uses many of the same gestures, mannerisms and quirks across characters. I liked him in his younger years, when he was not quite so 'big' as an actor...his acting seemed more raw in that way that is believable.

I agree with this completely. I used to be a big fan of Depp's but have grown tired of the parody he seems to play now. I can't bear the continual collaborations with Tim Burton, although Sweeney Todd was very good and show that Depp can deliver if he wants.
To say a little often is to tell more than to say a great deal.
