... all it needed was some sort of story moved along by threads of logic.

Overall I liked it... but I just kept thinking "why is this happening?"

He's made much better films. Election is one of my favorites. So is Running Out of Time.

This one though, just sort of has things happening that are really cool... but presents them as the characters making really bad decisions instead of presenting it in the sense that there is no other way out.

this movie was nice, but i can totally understand how some people find this movie boring.

running out of time was GREAT. mind games to the max, imo, it's up there with infernal affairs.

overall, i found that much of the motivation behind the characters to be unspoken. Most of it on the themes of brotherhood and loyalty.

if you understand cantonese(language spoken in this film) then everything will make sense, these 5 mobster grew up together following the same boss(Fay) and for some reason 2 of them tried to assassinate their boss and failed but Wo took the blame and got exiled and after many years he wanted to return back to his hometown, Fay somehow knew and sent Blaze and the fatty(these 2 still working for Fay) to kill him, Tai and the other guy(these 2 stopped working for Fay) caught news of it and they want to stop Blaze....... AND THEN BULLETS FLY
