Ingest the infection.
She ddn't curse them, they were affected by her uncle's curse, that relation was close enough to cure them. She was a little fuzzy on the rules, as shown.

If you ever listen to the commentary (all 3 leads + director), you`ll have just as much fun as the first-viewing (ie "We shoulda put a SKELETAL view of Frisky in Luke`s locket for the scene in the fort...")- assuming you liked the film, of course. I did, as evidenced below!
