The Best of the "Serious" Woody Allen Films...

The acting, the cinematography, the sharp as a needle editing, the tight as hell script... It's not just the best of his "serious" films, it's one of the top ten films of the 00's.

I agree. Pulls you into these people's lives immediately and remains compelling right to the end. The desperation of the two brothers feels very real, and the movie is at times genuinely suspenseful.

The scene with Tom Wilkinson asking Farrell and McGregor for help is a great example of how well written the film is.

Allens most unrecognizable movie. One of his few movies where he actually doesn't repeat himself. This movie has his own style. The soundtrack above all gives this movie a whole other feeling than his other ones. I love his other ones too but it's nice to be surprised.

Ed Powers = Woody Allen

I wouldn't praise it that highly but it was indeed a very nice little story. You guys seem to be Woody Allen connoisseur, i am not. Have seen a few though, really enjoyed Match Point for instance. A bit more gritty and flashy than this one. Nice ending too.

Very watchable but nowhere near as absorbing as Match Point.
