Any good?

reply

no, unless you are a sociopath and don't expect movies to have a certain goal they are trying to archieve.

This movies can be labeled as "snuff porno". Some sick *beep*

it's really sickening and the message it attempts to give is quite shallow. I guess it was an OK book, but it should have never been adapted to a feature film.

so agreed. horrible, horrrible movie. so pointless and as already mentiond so shalow. the protagonist might have been a prick, but that was no justification to turture and cripple him. there wasn't even a twist at the ending. the violence in this movie didn't even work as a story telling element and everything was completely predictible.

Alright, some things need to be cleared up here, cause either you weren't watching closely enough, or just overlooked specific things to make this movie seem worse than it was.

"so pointless and as already mentiond so shalow"
-Nah, the point was brought up many many times. He worked for a company that was bringing about globalization and country ownership by companies. One militant group disliked what he was doing, and did something about it. How is that shallow? It's not a 'slash n gash' gory as hell movie, or a 'boy meets girl' sex comedy. It involves politics, greed, morals, the world, and it brings it home to you as well by making you wonder 'what if that was me' and 'do I support the right companies' kind of thing. Not the deepest plot by any means, but not nearly lame enough to be considered shallow in my opinion.

"the protagonist might have been a prick, but that was no justification to turture and cripple him"
-Wow, missed the mark there I believe. THAT WAS THE WHOLE POINT. He was down the ladder of evilness, but does that make him any less responsible? The idea is that MANY MANY jobs are like his - contributing to evil, but to the person it's just 'doing their job', and next it could happen to you.

"the protagonist might have been a prick, but that was no justification to turture and cripple him"
-It's the movies fault YOU expected a twist and didn't get one? What are you talking about? How is that a negative aspect of the film at all? If anything it's a good thing, as it defied your convention and did the unexpected, no?

" the violence in this movie didn't even work as a story telling element"
-I respect the opinion, but in mine, it did work. Taking away senses from a man who had nothing but try to indulge in them is a pretty good/interesting story... and if they're taken away with violence (which mirrors how his company had taken away rights of the poor), then they have a purpose either way...

Not liking the movie is one thing (not everyone likes every movie, that's all good), but making things up about it, then hating it for those reasons is just odd...

well the nice thing about selective thinking is that you interpret the hell out of even the lowest piece of 20 cent literature if you want to.

the stuff you have written down comes from your own imagination and was at best HINTED at within the storyline.

furthermore if your interpretation was right then it STILL would be a mighty stupid conclusion.

lookahere, we got a guy that's doing bad stuff for an evil corporation. we torture and cripple him, because those companies do bad things and we don't like it. even better, we do it for 90 minutes of viewing pleasure.

how sad of a plotline can you get?

if you wanna see some deep stuff go out and rent a michael hannecke DVD, then we can talk about deep and meaningful cruelty as an element to get your points across, but if you are satisfied by this movie i personally find that pretty sad.

glad you enjoyed it though. ;)

So your saying the point of the movie is to like what terrorist/militant groups like otherwise you could suffer toture? Oh wait that already happens anyways, just with gods and freedom and not companies at the center. Still just because you don't agree with a company doesn't mean you get to kidnap a lowly workers of it and destroy their lives and/or kill them while the world watches.

Well said, thebeardedwonder. This therefwhatever has posted negative crap more often than I can remember on these boards.
