I watched this movie last night and I can say that the only reason that I didn't turn it off was because once I start a movie I have to finish it. That being said, by the end of the movie I was left scratching my head. After ninety minutes of endless psychological and physical torture viewing I had no idea as to why this movie was made. I have nothing at all against violence in films, but this was violent just for violence sake.

ROFL @ the subject of this post. That's why I thought this movie might not be good (as I glance at the subjects of threads before I see a movie but dare not read the content - even if folks are careful.
So far, therefwhatever seems to feel the need to post on every thread that he too didn't like the movie.
As I said in another thread, I believe the end was basically public opinion finally said release him poof, the movie was over.
I found that powerful and hard-hitting. A lot moreso than many of the uber-twisted but ultimately forgettable other movies I've seen...
The only people who liked this movie are people who enjoy pointless torture.
Even I can admit to enjoying some of what people call "torture porn" if there is a compelling story.
This had none. They kidnap some random American businessman, destroy his 5 senses and stream it on the internet.
That's not a *beep* story. People like violence? Wow what a revelation, what a brilliant epiphany.
And what the *beep* was the point of the flashbacks? I'm sure everybody was a little angel when they were little young kids.

Sorry you missed the plot, theme and context of the movie. Interesting you only noticed the violence.
