Nim pretending to Care?

Well of course then ending to this movie pretty much sucked even though the rest was good. i feel like most people on here agree but i had so many questions about the ending. i found most of em but no one really has a good reason for why Nim like strung Elliot along. Now its just my thought but i wanted to share it since its nowhere else on here but here it goes.

The point of taking all his senses was not only to make an example but make him appreciate things/life whatever more. Well knowing how much he didnt appreciate his wife and love etc i feel like she strung him along and made him really care about her to torture him in another sense. Like the sense of love and that her betrayal was a worse torture than the eye.

justtt a thoughttskii

"... make him appreciate things/life whatever more...."

aahum, yeah. because spending the rest of your life in terrible pain, physically and psychologically ruined, really makes ya sit back and relax. i bet he will really appreciate the 4-hourly dosage of morphin for not passing out because of the pain, that he will get at the hospital, more likely though asylum, that he will be spending most likely the rest of his life in. i guess he will be thankfull as hell. maybe even send the kidnappers a lil thank you card.

in case you havent noticed: they have not simply taken his senses. they did not remove his sense of smell e.g. by putting him under narcotics and then surgically remove them, which would have made for a more plausible story, but they did everything in the most brutal manner possible, which will create agonizing pain in his nerves that will remain for the rest of his days. rest assured that if you stick an iron into your nostrils that the loss of smell is the VERY least of your problems.

"... that her betrayal was a worse torture than the eye ..."
that is just as mental as it is delusional.

i better stop now. ;€

Hmm, I haven't read other opinions about the ending (yet), just started reading this bloke therefwhatever who seems to think he has to post on every thread that he disliked the movie (hint, he doesn't).

My thought was it all ended when public opinion said to release him. That's why everyone left.

Simplistic, but the plot was simplistic, no? Powerful but simplistic.

I will be reading other threads to hear of alternate views (other than therefwhatever who keeps saying Funny Games is not crap) of the ending of Senseless..

Funny Games is the perfect movie...

Anyway, this had potential, and I agree they all left because of public voes. But it would have been taken to great levels if we saw his efforts to manipulate the public votes, how that worked and more interplay between him and the viewers. Would he cynically manipulate them, or be too proud to play the system, it could have gone to much more interesting places

What the hell makes you say he didn't appreciate his wife? Because he went on a single business trip that disappointed her that says to you he doesn't appreciate his wife? Lol.

I agree with you!!!! That had nothing to do with him not appreciating his wife. It was a business trip. It's not like he went for a couple of years.
