Seriously, THIS is worse than '2'???

OK, the movie is far from the fun of 1, 3 and 4, but it is still watchable and with some good jokes. It's pretty obvious experts Proft and Zucker are at the writing credits, and the film itself is better directed than either of the two first entries of the series.

A 3.5 average would suggest this is kind of "Epic Movie" kind of disaster, but some of the jokes are pretty smart and well constructed (the mix of films doesn't come as half as forced as in 2, for example, which did waste two comic geniouses as Tim Curry and Chris Elliott).

In no way I am defending this is a GOOD film, but I see it as a beyond average spoof, even thought I still miss the top form of the ZAZ team in the 80's.

Agreed.

Call me crazy but I enjoyed this movie. It's sad when people can't turn off their brain for 90 minutes and enjoy themselves. It's harmless fun. And on another note, I'm tired of seeing all the haters on this message board. This movie came out in April. That means they have spent a whole 6 months sitting on this message board warning others not to see it, and that is some massive dedication to a movie they claim to hate.

I'm all for harmless fun! I've enjoyed films like Norbit, Disaster movie, Epic Movie (after a couple of viewings)and all the Scary Movies up until this one! I felt the editing for me was a lot more choppy and fast than any of the previous films, which made it hard to follow...these movies aren't usually hard to follow. I laughed at some parts, probably just trying to get my money's worth, by forcing the chuckles out of myself. None of the original main characters returned (with maybe the exception of Charlie Sheen, but he played himself and Simon Rex plays a different character also) this was probably for the best though. David Zucker did not return as director for most of the film and only served as writer, This new director was probably responsible for the lack of pacing! Stupid movies like these are supposed to be easy to laugh at (If you can turn off your brain, and can connect with that humour) but this one was a challenge! Snoop Dogg was not used to his full potential either! haha. But with that, I commend you for your resilience and enjoyment of this film! It was just terrible for me, and I enjoy some pretty dodgy films at times...different opinions though, I guess.

Why does 2 get such a bad rap? I'd say 2 is probably the second best in the series, after the original.

I love 2 so much. That had my favorite cast chemistry out of all of them and nothing seemed as force as the 50 shades of Grey scene in this movie.

Part 2 is in par with part 1 for me. 3 had a few decent moments and I shut 4 off before it was over. The problem I had with them are being titled "scary movie" and spoofing every other genre more than horror. That and they weren't funny. I haven't decided to give this one a shot yet or not.

i laugh so hard at part 2. it has some huge laughs in it. it is probably funnier then 1 but some jokes do go on for too long. but with 3, 4, and 5 the points without laughter are way longer and theres no big laughs. 5 is by far the worst. its pretty awful.

I agree. When they went to PG-13 that killed it. I don't think rated R always makes things better, but in this case it is

2 wasn't that good, 4 was way better, the only reason some people claim 2 is betters than 3 or even 4 is because the Wayans are in it. And this one is underrated.

I really wanted to like SM5, but I couldn't even finish it. At least I was able to finish SM2, though just barely as I didn't find it funny at all. The only good ones are 1 and 3, the rest have been pretty awful.

Even though I haven't seen this Scary Movie yet, I think the first two are the only really good ones in the series. I didn't care for 4 and 3 was okay but both were not even close as funny as the first two which I thought were hilarious

reply

Two was decent, definitely the second best in the series. the original cast was in it, three and four were dreadful and five is about as funny as cancer.

I haven't even seen this and I can tell you it's worse than 2. Scary Movie 1 and 2 were some of the funniest films to ever be made. Every installment after has been crap, although 3 had some funny parts. It's hard to even consider all of the films in the same series because the first two are so much different than the others. Once the Wayans left it wasn't the same.

I agree with the OP for the most part.

NOTHING made part II even remotely watchable. This movie was bad...very bad, but it was funny and it held my attention...though I NEVER want to see it again .

My personal opinion on where to rank the 5 Scary Movies are:

1&3 tie for first, 4 is second, 5 is next, then way down the list is 2.

I doubt a Scary Movie will ever be made that's worse than 2.

All copies of two need be rounded up and burned, and it's digital existence deleted and written over!

I found it just as good as 2, if not better.

Honestly, I like the David Zucker-written Scary Movies over the Wayans ones. Even Scary Movie 5 was hilarious to me. The walking stick figure in the Black Swan parody always, always, ALWAYS gets me.

This is gonna *beep* do for him what "Jade" did for David Caruso.
