The girl building the snowman in the night....

was Jewish, correct? Because 1) she looked Jewish, almost like Anne Frank; 2) was called "Sarah" by her apparent mother. The bicycle repairman thought to be a Nazi collaborator - I believe named "Auer" - was sheltering them. When Sarah came in he kicked down the snowman and dissipated the snow, as if to hide evidence that a child is living there.

Correct?

I'd say that's a good guess. It adds another layer of complexity to Auer (I believe that was his name, too). Maybe he wasn't actually a Nazi collaborator, but a misunderstood good guy. Or maybe he was playing for both sides, although I don't see what benefit sheltering these Jewish people would have been.

There was no benefit in sheltering the Jews. You would do it out of compassion, and righteousness.

Yes. Also, notice that Auer destroys the snowman that the girl was building, which means to me that he didnt want to leave any proof that a child was living there.

I think it was a nice touch to add a layer to his character that way.
