Suggestiveness?

Did anyone who actually saw this movie think there were quite a bit of lesbian overtones in it? Or was that just me?

More specifically, not me personally, 'twas my friend I watched it with. She finds lesbian overtones in a lot of things. But come on now, did anyone notice the way some of the girls were staring at each other, or how a few of the lines were just a little too... ya know?

reply

wtf are you talking about? This is a "family" movie. Why would they have lesbian overtones in it?

reply

Have you ever watched ABC Family before? They always air things with homosexual undertones (such as Whose Line Is It Anyway?)

I'm not saying that this movie does have a lesbian vibe to it, but just because it's a family movie doesn't mean that there wouldn't be any.

"How'd you pull that out of your - "
"Not mine. I had a muse."

reply

Well i'm not saying that either because i do watch whose line is it anyway and yeah, i know they do have "homosexual undertones" on there but i'm saying, it's supposed to be a family movie so i didn't really see any lesbian vibes or suggestive looks from girl to girl lol.

reply

idk about in this one...
but i DEFINATELY saw "lesbian undertones" in the original...
i totally expected sarah and mouse to hook up for the whole first hour of the movie....

reply

lesbian vibe? nah I didn't get that. The main characters were sisters, the 2 main groups were enemies, and sororities were made up of "sisters" as well. How that gives off a lesbian vibe, I have no clue

there was tons of sexual stuff in this movie, of course. but it wasn't a lesbian vibe

reply

Ya there was, like the whole sock thing and what's his face comes in and asks if they wrestle all the time. There was also the scene where Linds got the "makeover" and Sarah reached out and touched her boob and someone said something about a cheap thrill. There was a lot of sexual "vibes" including "lesbian vibes" or whatever.

reply

Oh my gosh I was totally thinking that as I was watching it. I was like, wow.. this is on abc family? I was actually surprised at all the sexual references but it was an awesome movie.

reply

The whole wrestling thing and Finn coming in and says that has nothing to do with lesbian undertones. That's just the guys mind and the whole fantasy of two girls, twins, etc. at once. And the whole cheap thrill thing? Lindsey changed overnight...I would be a bit skeptical too...

reply

I thought Sarah and Vita were going to be girlfriends at first, I must say...

reply

Well, their official slogan IS "A new kind of family".

reply

I mean, the title is "The Initiation of Sarah" -- which resembles countless porn films.

reply

That would be because those countless porn films have titles taken from the title, "The Initiation of Sarah"

The movie didn't take from the porn titles...the porn titles took from the movie. The people who come up with them aren't too good at coming up with this sort of thing, so they take from movies all the time.

Yes, I agree. Especially when Corinne was interacting with Esme and Lindsey.

reply

I am sure if it was just murder you wouldn't blink.
Typical american.

reply

Well, actually, I was hoping for a homosexual movie. Other than these types of undertones, there are rarely any gay movies on television.

reply

Well ABCFamily has changed a lot in the past few years this movie was made and now they have tons of "lesbian overtones" actually there is a show on now "The Fosters" - which I think is about a lesbian couple adopting some children, not sure about the whole plot - I don't watch it (not b/c of the lesbians, I have nothing against gays at all; I have tons of friends who are gay -men and women and I adore all of them; I am VERY happy that gays can get married now as well) its just I have so many other shows on my plate right now. I do however watch Pretty Little Liars - and yes there is a lesbian character on the show Emily, but besides Emily, its a "sexual show" as well and its not all about her being gay but don't get me wrong they do have other "gay vibes" from other characters besides Emily. Another words the show isn't all about Emily - its a mystery, thriller, etc. You never know what will happen next. Also the very good show "The Lying Game" also had "sexual overtones" as well as "gay vibes" as well- dumb move canceling it like that we were left w/so many unanswered questions. The Gilmore Girls had "sexual overtones" as well. ABC Family has come along way since this movie and have a lot of "gay, straight, overtones" now. Pissed b/c they canceled not only the "Lying Game" but a few others as well that I really enjoyed watching. If people have problems w/gay "sexual overtones" and/or just "sexual overtones" than just stop watching. GOOD for ABC Family for cutting it loose - they also have shows about "teenage pregnancies" the network has changed a lot for the better.

Did you miss the hetero sex scene between Mika Boorem's character and the hot (male) RA?

reply

Yeah I do think there was quite a number of lesbian overtones in this movie. Joanna Garcia's character could very well be a lesbian. She didn't seem to have any interest in guys, treated the women better and even kissed Lindsay on the lips instead of the traditional kiss on the cheeks during the initiation ceremony.

RIP AJ Cook's career. Her career dies everytime she's on the sh#t known as Criminal Minds.
