Kinda Dissapointing
The Game was fun don't get me wrong I loved the 70s style but they kinda ripped off San Andreas a bit don't ya think?
sharePeople always say that Driver rips of GTA, but the original Driver was out for the Playstation 1 back in 1999, GTA 3 wasn't out till 2001 on the PS2, so actually Driver was the first game to combine driving around doing what you want in a 3D world.
The makers of these games have been rivals since then, always arguing over who makes the better game. I have all the GTA's and Driver games, they're all great games in thier own right, who cares if a game is similar to another?
But DRIVER 2 did'nt have shooting as did GTA 3 so GTA came up with the shooting engine and DRIV3R came out with shooting in 2004. But the series did partially rip off GTA but they both deliver a good sense of gameplay.
shareYou're right, GTA was the first with the shooting. But in both games I don't realy like doing anything on foot, the driving is the best part of both games I think. The targeting system is pretty crap in both GTA and Driver. I have all these games for the Playstation, but I have GTA Vice City for the PC, using the mouse to target is much better, but still driving around is the most fun part.
shareOf course shooting was better on the computer that's why I bought GTA3, Vice City and San Andreas for PC the mouse was better than the controller no doubt in my mind and also If they put Parallel Lines on the computer the REFRACTIONS logo is goin' on my dartboard! LoLz
I dont see the point in complaining about two games being similar, and thus being a ripoff. I mean is every 1st person shooter a ripoff of Doom? They did it first no? Using the logic people use for the driver games, it's a ripoff of GTA, then any game featuring a gun is a rip off of Doom, or any game featuring aliens is a rippoff of Space Invaders.
Give it a rest, all games may have taken ideas from others, but then, what doesnt? Books, movies, music, all borrow from each other,so why not games?
