Every character (but one) is driven by selfish reasons

Edit: Several sentences removed

Awsome film, one of my all-time favorites. Seeing it several years later and with a bit more experience, however, it's too obvious that each character (aside from Simon) in this hilarious piece of work is driven solely by their own interests. And that's OK, because it makes for a bloody perfect comedic ensemble of self-obsessed, stuck-in-their-ways personages, put together in an already awkward ambiance, where someone is being buried, while the rest attempt to redeem their past (or future) mistakes.
