Is there a transcript of the list itself?

It would've been a sensible move for channel four to add the list to their website, after the program had finished.

Hopefully they're just taking their time and it will follow in the next few days.

- John Bender, The Breakfast Club

Does anyone else think Gone With The Wind should be up there?

That's a pretty weak list.

"You are the Duke of New York! You are A # 1!"

I don't.

Thats a bad list they leave out way to many great movies. The Godfather Triology, Goodfellas, The Sixth Sense, Casablanca, Saving Private Ryan, The Princess Bride, Groundhog Day, and My Cousin Vinny are just some of the many great movies left of that list.

Woody Paige: Look at the schedule guys!

reply

im glad city of god is high up

reply

[deleted]

uh Citizen Kane? Isn't this always touted as the God of all movies?

reply

Should Amelie not be in there? like the greatest french film ever made, and clockwork orange should have definatly been put in there! i thought it was pretty weak too

reply

these movies are not a 'best of'
they are movies that are 'different'. that doesnt follow hollywood formula.
but i agree clockwork orange should be on that list

reply

I love that Trainspotting and Mulholland Drive made the list, but there are several films missing IMO:

Godfather Pt 2
Blue Velvet
Clockwork Orange
Videodrome/Dead Ringers
Suspiria
Maltese Falcon

Additionally, neither Apocalypse Now should have been #1 nor should Scarface be on that list.

Scarface sucked, it should NOT have been on the list, i think Apocalypse Now should have been in the top 5, Blade runner should be #1

I think it was a bit of a better list than some think. This sporting life would usually be left out for popular average stuff such as the godfather (better than average but ya know) and its tru is one of the best films ever

Perfection in darkness

Do you know which Scarface it means? it might be the original 1932 film with Paul Muni, not the Pacino version.

The original Scarface is a true classic, and besides being the blueprint for the modern "gangster movie," the film is startlingly inventive for the period in which it was made. Even today, many of the shots (like the amazing "bowling alley massacre" ) still look impressive.
