Why do you guys hate this show?

I enjoy all kinds of humor, not just toilet humor, so don't call me a "special needs kid" or anything like that. It's just that this show is also great at parodying the whole cop genre...I find myself laughing at this aspect of the show more than half the time (the other part being at the obvious humor of course).

Honestly, I think that if this show was the way it was but didn't feature a talking ass, you'd all be fawning over how "genius" and "hilarious" it is. Maybe it's because IMDb is supposed to be a place for "highbrow" shows and movies, so people just feel obligated to criticize this because it features a talking ass...but secretly like the show and are just afraid to admit it.

So, I ask my previous statement as a question: If the show was EXACTLY the same in every way EXCEPT for featuring a talking ass (perhaps McGee became a normal humanoid), and you saw it for the very first time without knowing what the old show was like, would you enjoy this show?

Have you tried turning on closed captions? I do all the time because it helps me understand words when actors mumble onscreen.

Any show where captions are necessary to understand the "humor" is not worth the time of day. If I wanted to read something unfunny I'd holler at some obituaries.

I assume you don't like foreign films then?

You'd assume correct (except for standouts). However, if Assy McGee needs subtitles for English then something is wrong (in this case, the overuse of a fake Stallone accent).

Also, I'm fairly certain comedies have humor within their subtitles.

Therefore Kenny from South Park and Boomhauer from King Of The HIll (both of whom are close-captioned properly) must mean that South Park and King Of The HIll are not worth the time of the day. Obituaries must be funnier than South Park.

I can't believe I just received an email about someone responding to this topic. A three year old Assy McGee topic on IMDb? Really dude? Holy *beep* you need a life.

Also, Kenny and Boomhauer aren't the main characters, so can it.

I feel the same way TC. People hate on the show because they see it as a show about a talking ass, and they think that's why it's supposed to be funny. But in my mind, it's a satire of hardboiled cop shows, and that's why it's funny. It's all about the stereotypical one-liners, the main character being so gruff that you can hardly understand him, the over-the-top action shots, and all of that stuff. It's just that the main character also happens to be a talking ass.
