Which would you have chosen? (spoilers)

Matsumoto (the samurai) or Seiji?

I think I would've chosen Matsumoto >_> I thought he was so sweet, and he was truly in love with Kiyoha.

I just finished watching it...and I'd choose Seiji all the way! *SPOILERS BELOW*

Seiji was always there for her since the beginning. Seiji was with her through all her ups and downs- through all her transitions. He befriended her when she had no one to turn to when she was a little girl. When her first love abandoned her, he was there to pick her back up again. He supported her rise to the status of oiran. He stuck around and took care of her when she was ill even when she was going to marry another man!

The samurai only noticed her when she was the oiran - when she was already at the top. Sure he had lots of cash to throw around and impressed her with the cherry blossom party...but where was he when she lost her child? Her unborn child meant everything to her. Who was comforting her instead? Exactly.

Seiji would be my choice for sure!

Plus Ando is pretty hot...minor bias there...hehe!

Seiji...cause even though the samurai loved her, she did not love him. Also, it was obvious through out the film that Seiji was in love with her but I love the way that it was very subtle, so much that you could almost miss it if you didn't look carefully. Same thing with her, you could see that they cared for each other and that's why I was happy that they ran off together(even though the samurai loved her, she would have been rich, etc.) She is happy. oh yeah and ando is freeaaking hot. lordy. lol.

I just watched the film, it's beautiful and touching. Since I had absolutely no idea what the film's about at first, I had a fun time guessing which of the men(listed on the DVD booklet) she'll end up with. It's really heart warming to see that low profile Seiji made it to the end, just like what you said, he was always there for her, he stood by her all through. I love the way how their feelings for each other developed (or rather, her feelings towards him), it's very subtle, but very moving. The visuals are beautiful too!
