'The Last Days' (UK) and 'Volcano of Destruction' (US) ...

This program was repeated over here in North America this week.

So, besides the title switch and commercial break 'outros' (ie. 'Coming up next...'), were there any differences between 'The Last Days' (the UK version on BBC) and 'Volcano of Destruction' (the US/Canada version on Discovery)?

eg.) Was the BBC version in the UK just the drama portion, with the science and talk featured on 'Krakatoa Revealed' on one of BBC's cable channels (a common occurance with shows like 'EastEnders' and 'Doctor Who')? It seemed to me as if the two UK shows were edited together here to make a two-hour special (with commercials).

(By the way, Olivia Williams - fantastic actress. Heartrending performance.
Also did a good job on the sci-fi drama 'Dollhouse'.)

Please let me know if there's some other way we can screw up tonight.

There are a few scenes missing, and a slightly different ending. The biggest scene missing that I can recall takes place after the Pyroclastic Flow hit them in the village, in it featured them peeling patches of burnt skin from their bodies and talking around a fire. In the american release, at the end, you see Roger looking at his finished book as the final narration kicks in, but in European version, you instead see him taking a canoe out to Krakatau to inspect the remains of the mountain as the narration kicks in.
