Imitation of The Girl Next Door...?

Anyone else think the makers of this film simply tried to emulate the superior Girl Next Door?

The former's influence is obvious, but it would be a stretch to say that Candy was emulating/imitating.

I agree that i was over simplifying the similarity: both were better than i expected actually but I just thought it was a little too similar to The Girl Next Door. I guess films of this basic storyline though have been made for a few decades now in various forms: most of these 'teen'-type films probably owe a huge debt to 80s films like Ferris Bueller's Day Off.

Yes they do owe it all to the 80's style teen films. I mean they all carried the same message or something similar to them. Still they could have made this film better though than The Girl Next Door to be honest with you.

Yes I agree with you there on that and the only difference is that in this film none of the women went topless like The Girl Next Door did.

I noticed that as well. Average suburban boy comes into contact with porn star, falls in love, deals with her scumbag producer, makes a porno that is actually culturally relevant.
