Had a really strange experience watching this.....also reminds me of....

....the movie "Clouds of Sils Maria" for some reason -- the mis en scene of the film maybe or the editing? I dunno but any way....

In 2011 I stayed at the Super 8 dump motel by LAX the day before I went to the festival I go to every year in downtown LA. The following day I went to the Marriott.

In 2012 I wanted to spend a few days in LA before I went to the festival to see the city. So I saved up the ENTIRE YEAR and stayed 2-3 nights at the Sheraton there by the airport in LA.

I don't recall exactly when I went to bed but I woke up during the day sometime. I think it was late morning and I had slept for like 12 hours. It was a true vacation.

I had left the tv on the night before though and this movie was on. It had already started and I had been drinking a bit the night before so I had a little hangover. So I just sat in bed for a while and watched it. Something about 2 American girls in Genoa, Italy. You couldn't tell if the mother was alive or not. The daughter was hallucinating or seeing her ghost or something.

The movie had a weird feel to it though because it seemed like "real life" -- there was no narrative structure. It was like you were watching "real life."

I didn't watch the entire movie before I got up and showered and left to get something to eat but I thought it was interesting that the movie has stuck with me for so long.

This past summer I was given a few months of free hbo or Cinemax or something and "The Clouds of Sils Maria" reminded me A LOT of this film and this film has stayed with me the last 4 years. Every now and then i think of it. I need to watch the whole film.

Reminds me of my trip to LA that year though.
