Questions about Mini-Horse

What happened to Mini? I am listening to the commentary to the season 3 DVD and it sound like he isn't around any more. Is he dead? Did Rob get rid of him? Also , from the commentary it sounds like they didn't really like the horse very much . Was it the producer's idea for them to get the horse in the first place?

He's alive and at a refuge where he is free to roam and get it on with other mini-horses.

Mini is staying with Flame the mini horse trainer from Season 2.
