A good movie....

I am a sucker for mountaineering movies... and this enjoyable mini-series brought me back for its second half. However, I did think the Alan Burgess character was a bit over the top. Was he really on the climb or was he added just for dramatic tension?? If he is, in fact, a real person.. Burgess may want to sue.
This being said.. I still will be adding "Everest" to my home collection.

I have the "Everest Canada" book that came out in 1983 and it's actually co-authored by Al Burgess. I'll have to read it again. It's probably been 20 yrs since the last time I did. I checked out amazon and it looks like he has a twin brother. Here's a link to one of their books:

I guess I'm pretty well in the same camp concerning mountaineering movies as I really enjoyed K2 when it came out in the theaters but it doesn't have a very good rating on IMDB.

Yes the Burgess twins, knew them a bit in Yosemite Valley back in the 1970s.

I'm also a sucker for mountaineering movies. This film sucked in many ways. I doubt any serious climber ever acts like many of these "climbers". Also, couldn't understand why Capt Kirk kept popping up every so often?

A recent film I'm recommend is (it's in German):

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0844457/

Watch that and compare!
