How much do you miss this show from 1 to 10

It's definitely a 10! Used to be my favorite show!

It is probably a 10 for me to. I never even watched it when it was on the air. I came across it a few months ago on Netflix and decided to watch it. The show was just amazing. I wish it could of found a bigger audience and continued.

Yes, I also found it different than the other teen shows on air at that time. The mystery element also added a lot to its uniqueness. Too bad it got aired during the wrong time (summer) and right when the CW just started out so it got shoved out of the way.

Adoring Haley Reinhart. Ringer rocks!

I too just stumbled upon HP recently and I loved it! It's so sad it never got the chance to live out its full potential. I love shows where teens/young adults from different cliques and backgrounds end up drawn together and forming a core group of really good friends...who despite their differences and drama with each other, always end up coming together to help each other out of some crises or shenanigans. Shows like The O.C., One Tree Hill, 90210 (both of them), My So-Called Life, Popular, Greek, and Gossip Girl are all faves of mine. Then recently there has been a wave of teen/young adult dramas with a mystery edge to them and I started to fall in love with shows like Pretty Little Liars, The Lying Game, Switched at Birth, Ringer (RIP), and The Secret Circle (RIP). So I started searching out more series with this teens & mystery formula and I fell in LOVE with Veronica Mars and Roswell...watched all 3 seasons of both in about a week lol! It was becoming harder and harder to find new/old shows to watch that I hadn't already seen and I was just about to give up when I found Hidden Palms. I was so impressed with it and so surprised it didn't take off as an immediate hit. I loved the character development, the writing, the acting, and the story-lines. Sadly, I watched the entire short-lived season in 1 day and now I'm on the hunt again.

Can anybody here recommend any other shows like Hidden Palms and the others I mentioned liking for the same elements? I like shows with good character development...characters that you can root for and watch grow and develop...like Brooke on OTH going from the slutty, bitchy, superficial, rich snob who's really very insecure deep down to the faithfull, loveable, caring, compassionate, much less superficial, and very confident Brooke at the end OTH. I enjoy shows with characters like Logan from VM, Michael & Kyle from Roswell, Ryan from The OC, Brooke & Sam from Popular, Cappy from Greek, and of course Cliff & Johnny from HP. And of course super couples and love triangles are good too if done well and not in a random, hap-hazard, over dramatized way. Sorry to go on and on. I'm just not sure who in here has seen what besides HP so just trying to give a lot of examples hoping I hit on a few.

Thanx in advance for any suggestions :)

If you haven't seen them yet then I recommend Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Skins (US version - I haven't seen the UK version, but I hear it is good), The Vampire Diaries, or True Blood. True Blood isn't about teens, but adults in their 20s/early 30s. Still it is a great show. There is also Teen Wolf, but it is nothing special. It has its moments though. Finally, there is the show Point Pleasant. I haven't seen it myself, but I hear it is similar to Hidden Palms.

I pretty much enjoy the same shows as you and I myself have been in similar situations as yours. It is hard to find a TV series that really clicks with your personality. There are many TV series out there, but only some are right for you.

Thanx whydotheycancelgoodtv! I will check some of those out. I have seen Dawson's Creek (every episode about a hundred times lol), and it's one of my all-time favorite shows. I have heard of Point Pleasant and think I had it on my watchlist at one point, but I keep forgetting about it I guess. I've also tried to get into Buffy several times but it's just not clicking for some reason. It's worth another try though. I've also tried to get into the US Skins a few times but it wasn't clicking either...and the UK version is on my watchlist so I may give that one a try too. I've also considered Teen Wolf and True Blood, but figured if Buffy wasn't clicking I they might not either. I'm not really into the supernatural/fantasy/sci-fi things usually...that's why I was so pleasantly surprised with Roswell, but the sci-fi aspect on there was not as intense or complicated as some others. I really like the mystery ones...the "who-killed-him/her-and-why?" types. I like some of the crime dramas that obviously have this aspect, but they lack the more in-depth exploration and growth of the characters and their personal lives...as well as the more long-term rooted story lines. Anyway, I thank you again for your suggestions, and I am going to give some of them another chance and see what happens. Sometimes it takes me a few tries to really get into a series. And I'm still open to any other suggestions you or anybody else has for me :)

No problem. With Buffy it may take a while to get into. The entire first season is not the best. The show really turns it on during the second season. The first season was more of an establishing like season. If you want you could skip ahead to season 2. Not much of season 1 is carried over to season 2. But Buffy is a fantastic series, so I highly recommend giving it another try. I also enjoy murder/mystery series, but only certain ones. I can't stand those one dimensional crime dramas that all of the networks air. If you are looking for some good murder/mystery type shows you should check out Revenge, Melrose Place 2.0, Harper's Island, Twin Peaks, Desperate Housewives, Kyle XY, or Kidnapped. Thirdly, if you like teen comedies you should check out Awkward or Suburgatory. Finally, there are a number of great Teen Films you may enjoy. Pretty much any horror movie that stars a group of teens is a good watch, such as the Halloween franchise. Also, I highly recommend the film Twelve. It stars Chase Crawford from Gossip Girl. It was honestly one of the best teen films I have ever seen.

Wow, we really do have very similar tastes in tv/movies! Halloween is my absolute favorite horror series! I even loved the Rob Zombie remakes, which most other fans don't. And I have most of the stuff you mentioned in my watchlist! Since I last posted I gave Point Pleasant a try and I loved it (ended up watching the whole thing in 2 days), so I'm really glad I did. I have also seen Melrose Place (both the old and new ones) and Twelve (I love Chase Crawford!). Revenge, Harper's Island (I loved LOST so I'm really looking forward to this one), and Kyle XY have all been at the top of my watchlist lately so since you suggested them too, I think they shall be next. Probably gonna start with Revenge! I will give Buffy another try too...maybe starting from season 2 as you suggested. Thanx a bunch for all your help. We definitely share the same tastes so I am more confident now that I will like some of these ones I had been unsure of!

P.S. I forgot to answer the original question from the OP. How much do I miss Hidden Palms, on a scale of 1 to 10? 11!! And sorry for high-jacking your thread...

I also forgot to mention Dawson's Creek, Shameless (again I have only seen the US version, but I hear the UK version is also good), and The Hard Times of RJ Berger. Hard Times is a comedy, but a comedy about teens. It has a lot of great teen elements. I hope these suggestions help.
