Use the Z06, up grade the suspension, tires, brakes, transmission, and supercharger.
Do not up grade the engine at all. The higher the engine upgrade package the heavier the engine. Keep body stock except for carbon fiber hood.
Did all this w/out NO2 and still beat him.
I do not like NO2. It's illegal in most sanctioned competition. And people who put it in muscle cars should take it out.
Exotics and Muscle cars don't need NO2!!!!!!
Only tuners should use this (God knows they need it)
i beat him with the carrea gt max tuned with nothin added to it all i done was tune the engine
shareWhat i did is i used the carrera gt max tuned, the problem is the audi a4 (le man's) has brilliant turning, i put the turning up to max and used nos, it works well, but it took me 2 tries, once in the city, twice in the canyon, i did this cz the canyon has tougth turns. hope this helps :)

You know bud, i thought you were on something - a Lancer beating his Audi Lemans!!!. HA HA HA...NO CHANCE.
I'd been trying with a fully souped up Murcielago (Lambo) and even a Gallardo and must have tried the first race a half dozen times and the second race 2 dozen times and the nearest i got in the Canyon race was when i lost by 123 points.
Then i tried the Lancer STOCK apart from upgrade to Race Tyres & Brakes. NO ENGINE OR SPEED MODS or ANY body mods.
I beat him in the first race FIRST TIME then in the second race i PASSED him in the second go (i'd never even got close using the 2 Lambo's). If the real world physics are true then it's no wonder the Evo VIII 400 was all over the coat tails of the big Lambo round Top Gear's test track

THE STOCK LANCER WILL BEAT HIM EASILY!!!!!
Lancer's are notoriously incredible cars in performance and handling. On a tight track like the canyon run the Lancer should have no problem beating most exotics. Give the exotics more straight lines and they will beat the Lancer.
Saw that episode of Top Gear. The lambo never got away from the Lancer and eventually lost control and spun out. Another exmaple is a M3 CSL versus a Merc Mclaren SLR on the 2 main tracks in Germany. The SLR just beat the CSL on the sprint but whe it came down to the track the SLR's handling couldn't keep up with the M3's and it lost, for all it's power and price tag.
If worse comes to worse, just download a cheat trainer and be done with him :)

Also the less you add to your car the less performance he will have in the race and the more you do to your car the more he will have. If you drive better at lower speeds go with a car that you have bought stock (doesn't much matter which one)and just tune what you have there. It will reduce his competitive ability along with your own thus giving you the edge as it increases your control.
I didn't go that route, I had a very nice Z06 ( very proud of her) and I just went for the pure speed of it and went by him before the first turn. Do it right and its over before your are out of the first real curve.
Me I Tried With A Fully Souped Murcielago And Failed, Then I Tried With A Souped Carrera GT And Failed Again, The I Used A Souped Camaro Concept And Sadly Failed Again :'(, Then I Finally Tried With A Souped Lancer And I Passed Him The First Part Of The Canyon So Basically I Won With A Lancer Approx. 40 Seconds Within The Race It's Pretty Pathetic Once You Think Of It

Was able to easily beat him with the Ford GT. Max grip on the tires and a strong lean towards accelleration with the Engine, Transmission, and Supercharger settings. Also had the NOS (if you use it... you don't really need it though with this car) set for maximum boost, NOT duration.
Car stuck to the road like glue and it's easy to maintain over 70-80 around hairpin turns and well over 110-120 around the rest.
