Ok we understand that some of you are serious hard core movie critics, but you can't take this movie too seriously.

After having seen airplane and enjoying my first taste of a parody, and then watching the greatness of Not Another Teen Movie (IMO one of the best parodies of it's time)

I was all too eager to watch the new parodies to come out such as "scary movie 2/3/4" Date movie "epic movie", but I literally got annoyed while watching all of them.

So it was with much discontent that I was dragged into seeing "The Comebacks" (The fact that it was made by the "Not another teen movie" guys helped)

and you know what, I actually enjoyed this movie.

It never takes itself serious for one minute, and neither should you. The jokes weren't elaborate, and the references were thrown right in your face, but still the movie persisted to make me laugh.

This movie is a lot like a Haunted House when your little. The kids who are "too cool" for it, act all tough and laugh at the guys trying to scare them. They generally have a really bad time and don't enjoy themselves.

The kids like actually "let" themselves be scared are the ones that end up having the most fun, and feel like they spent their money well.

So stop trying to dramatically critique the acting and jokes of the movie, and let yourself be immature and young for a few hours and enjoy the damn film.

I am male 51 yrs old. I went to see this with the expectation that it might be like Hot Shots Airplane etc.I expected it to be really bad. It was wat worse. I cannot imagine any actor or director being able to film these scenes and not know that this is the worst stuff ever done on film! They might have thrown away the script and let all of the actors Ad Lib. If I were a cameraman I would have jumped out of my seat and started directing. We made a play in eight grade that was really entertaining and really funny. I would like to give this flick a break but I just cannot. I cannot beleive anyone in the bussiness could have even let this in a theater and charged money. It is without a doubt the worst movie ever made. There were several great ideas and it was all wasted from the first take. For the love of God someone who knows the director of this film tell him how bad it is.

Are you saying that Scary Movie 2-4, Date Movie and Epic Movie all take themselves too seriously?

NO that is just him giving an example of being ironic and trying to use unjustifiable reasoning for something that itself is unjustifiiably horrible

Yes you stop dissing on this movie its plot divin genious is worthy of all the praise in the world lolzzzzroflfsdkfa...hey look im a regular poster on imdb now because i find assinine ignorant movies funny but ridicule actual movies that are worth a damn.

Now it's already fairly common knowledge that the overwhelming majority of IMDB posts serve as little more than an assault on one's I.Q....but WOW. I mean never have I felt so close to the being on the verge of an aneurysm.
I think my poor computer was even struggling with handling this post, as it looked as though steams of smoke were emanating from it before I clicked away from the page.

Simple fact of the matter is this is one god awful terrible movie. Whether it takes itself seriously or not is NOT the point, it is stupid, totally UNFUNNY and just plain dumb. I love dumb mindless humor, only thing is while this movie is dumb and mindless, it sure isn't humor.

since every spoof movie is a ripoff of airplane and high anxiety, let me explain what the ripoffs miss

they forget to play it straight...and this movie was the worst example

add to that the gratuitous product placement (in fact, i think this movie was only made for the product placement) and you have the worst movie in a decade

this movie was funny I don't care what you say. epic movie, scary movie 3 and 4, and date movie were all TERRIBLE but this movie was actually funny.

I read the reviews but saw it anyway, because it was the co-feature at the drive-in with American Gangster. I was expecting the worst movie every made, but I agree with the guy who started the thread-- this movie never takes itself seriously and we shouldn't either. I found myself laughing, I did. It was decently gross and funny.

The best point to be made is everyone has a right to your own opinion...what I find funny may not make you laugh. If you expecting Shakespeare then you will be disappointed.

Thank you, Op! I love this movie. I own it, and when I need to not think and just laugh, I throw it on. I feel like most of the people on here talking crap are the type that shouldn't have watched it in the first place.
