So what was that ending with the woman suddenly hugging her couch like monster? Did her boyfriend turn into that or something? And what was the whole thing with the angel? If he wasn't a fricking angel, how the *beep* did he die at the end and then die again?

I don't know whether he actually failed in his suicide attempt, and was either delusional or just eccentric in posing as an angel, or whether (in this movie) angels can be killed (maybe before we get to go to heaven, we have to take the form of an angel and help someone else find meaning first, and then we have to die again?).
And the model was into "smoothies" - men with all sharp edges removed, including body hair and bones. Lenny read the pamphlet about it that was hidden in her stack of magazines, and then went to the doctor in the article to have his bones removed, to make her happy. About that angel thing. It is about the fact that he commited suicide. The tradition of the christians sais that when a man kills him self, he is doomed to remain on the earth until the real date of his death. So the soul of the homeless guy, presentated in that angel shape remains in the same place until the date of his real death ( the moment the old man kills the homeless guy).For me it seemed like an interesting movie.
The thing with the sofa man, it have consider it a symbol of the extrem sacrifice that a human can do for love. At the same time, a selfish act from the woman s side. There are different ways of understanding love: a total one, a reason to do any sacrifice and a superficial one, when you wait for those you love to acomplish your desires and then forget about them when a new one comes up.

The interesting part for me was that the film doesn t actually tells what id the meaning of life from that book the boy bought. Eventually, how could it? You will never find the true meaning of life for $9,99. You just have to live it through
Even better than that was that no one was interested in hearing him explain the meaning of life.
