im pretty sure it was mandarin (im chinese, i speak cantonese, but i know what mandarin sounds like) it sounded kinda bad though that part when they were speaking chinese, i couldnt exactly understand some parts. and i guess shin being japanese not chinese he couldnt speak it very well, becuase i couldn't understand him.
Even thousgh I don't speak chinese, I lived in China for 4 years. Gosh I wished I learned it. But I can tell the difference it sounded like poor mandarin. I lived In Shanghai.
It was Mandarin Chinese. My family and I speak it all the time. It was fairly good too, seeing as the guy who played the Chinese monk isn't even Chinese- he's Japanese.
Yea...it was Mandarin Chinese...I'm Chinese and I can speak both Cantonese and Mandarin...and Taiwanese also...I thought that the Mandarin they spoke in this movie was better than the Cantonese that Steven Strait spoke in Sky High.
The Open Door by Evanescence out NOW! The Black Parade by My Chemical Romance I pre-ordered!!
Yup, you're all right. *lives in China* :D Mandarin, or Pu Tong Hua. But, um...in Mandarin, "thank you very much" is 'duo1 xie4' and the Grandmother said something else - which means exactly the same thing, mind you - but it was in another dialect (I hear my relatives saying that tons at New Years and stuff), I believe. Unless it's just an accent, and I'm completely mistaken.
