Well, most modern martial arts movies are, but this one is just too much... There's absolutely no reason for people to move like that. The overdone fakery just kills all the grace and power of martial arts and makes the fighting scenes quite pointless.

It is not overdone. It is a form of the genre of fiction and film called wuxia . Amoung its characteristics is a fighting style involving seemingly supernatural movements and aerial fighting. It has been around a long time. The basic plot premise also reflects the wuxia genre.
Yes very overdone. It was pulling me out of the storyline. I ended up fast forwarding those scenes and that helped. Usually I like watching martial arts, but they kind of ruined the natural beauty of it with their camera tricks.
